Fish Prep Wednesday
Work Area Details
Thaw, separate, batter, bread, portion, and freeze about 1 ton of Cod the Wednesday of Festival Week. It takes a lot of people – but many hands make light work! The major process is from Noon until about 4 pm, then cleanup. Great activity for families and other big groups – it’s a big social event in the garage. We need people to batter and bread, some strong younger people to help carry stuff, and a few people to help wash the dishes. The most popular fringe benefit of this “job” is the Quality Assurance part. We HAVE to test the fish, right?!?

Kitchen – Daytime Prep
Work Area Details
Help us prepare all the delicious food we sell at the Festival before the crowds arrive. We need lots of help in the air-conditioned kitchen for a variety of roles, including cutting, chopping, mixing, scooping, dishwashing, and cleaning up. Most of these tasks can be done while sitting down. In case you missed it, this is a daytime role, during the week, in the AIR CONDITIONING!

Kitchen – During Event
Work Area Details
No matter what your skills are, join us in the air conditioned kitchen – the central hub for all of our famous food. Tasks include baking, cooking, heating, packaging, and portioning, (and sampling). This is the heart of our food operations during the Festival, and will be a complete supply chain for getting ready-to-sell food distributed to all of our dining locations. There are some stools for sitting but there will be standing too. The pace will vary depending on the crowds. It’s fun no matter what, time flies, and it’s a great social opportunity. Be sure to keep that hair net on though! We’d rather the Department of Health inspectors enjoy dinner rather than fill out paperwork.

Indoor Serving Line
Work Area Details
Help us maintain the quick-moving food lines we’ve consistently improved the past few years. We need energetic people to be:
- Expediters – a fast-paced role that receives the order ticket, assembles the to-go bag of food, and hands it to the Order Fulfiller. This role involves mostly standing and walking and is well-suited for teens and young adults, and especially anyone who has worked in fast food before.
- Order Fulfillers – receive completed orders from the Expediters, calls out the customers’ names, and hands the bag(s) of food to the customer. This role can be performed standing or sitting, but requires someone with a loud voice to call out names over the crowd. This is the only chance you’ll ever get to use your “outdoor voice” inside a Catholic school!

Carry Out Serving Line
Work Area Details
Assemble orders by grabbing pre-packaged ready-to-sell food, bag it up, and hand it to customers in our Carry Out dining location. These positions will work in the garage at the west end of the main parking lot. We need the most help during the busy dinner rush as people head home from work.

Dessert Room
Work Area Details
We have a variety of shifts and roles available, but none of them are bad because they all are around delicious desserts the whole time.
Day Before Prep: We need help on Thursday prepping the Dessert Room, pre-labeling containers, cutting desserts, and tidying up
Cut & Package: Cut desserts, put them in the proper labeled containers, and help determine where they need to go.
Runners: Deliver the desserts to our food serving lines in the Dining Room and Garage, take inventory at each location, and communicate needs back to the Dessert Room.
Closers: Help with remaining cutting and packaging for the night, organize desserts for the next night, and tidying up for the evening.

Fish Wrapping
Work Area Details
Sit around a table in the shaded garage, have great conversation, all while wrapping a few thousand fish sandwiches as fast as they come out of the fryer and get sold – which is pretty darn fast. This is a very simple seated task, right in the middle of all the action in the Carry Out dining location. PRO TIP: Don’t wear your Sunday best. You know those 12 year old tennis shoes you use for mowing or other icky work? Wear those. Trust us.

Drive-Thru Operations
Work Area Details
Drive-Thru Runners will assemble food and drink orders in the garage and deliver them to drive thru customers in the parking lot north of the garage. This is a fast-paced role for energetic people of any age. Wear comfortable shoes and have fun setting land-speed records. Shifts are broken down into 1-hour increments, but we encourage volunteers to sign up for multiple consecutive shifts. Feedback from the past 2 years has been that it’s fun, and often creates a competitive spirit among Runners!
Drive-Thru Order Takers will use portable iPads with our Square POS app to take orders car-side as customers drive through the parking lot (think Chick-fil-A format). You move car-to-car and the Runners follow-up by delivering the orders to the customers.

Casino Cafe
Work Area Details
Serve food and drinks to our casino patrons. It’s indoors and very well air conditioned. Sitting and standing/walking positions are available. You must be at least 18 years old because the Casino Cafe is within the charity gaming area. To serve alcohol, you must be at least 21 years old and have a valid Volunteer Employee Permit from the Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission.

Lemon Shake-Ups
Work Area Details
Shake up our deliciously famous Lemon Shake-Ups while enjoying the live bands in the main parking lot. Volunteers will mix and measure ingredients, shake them up in a martini shaker, and serve them to customers. This booth is outdoors but is covered by a 10′ x 10′ tent, right in the middle of all the fun and action.

Beer Garden
Work Area Details
Pour and serve ice cold beer from the tap, and pour wine into glasses. Cashiers are also needed. NOTE: Everyone consuming alcohol must be at least 21 years of age with a valid government-issued photo ID. All volunteers serving or selling beer or wine must be at least 21 years of age, and possess and active and valid Volunteer Employee Permit from the Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission. Volunteers may not consume any alcohol free of charge and may not consume alcohol while working a volunteer shift.
